We’re so excited to announce that our first Murder Mystery Kit has finally launched! In the Shadow Lord of the Lord is available for free - all you have to do to get your free pdf is subscribe to our newsletter.
This murder mystery was first written and played for Halloween last year and it was by far the most fun we’ve ever had during a Murder Mystery party! It’s the reason we decided to start writing our own and publishing them under the name The Wanderer’s Tome! Our inspiration for the game came from the the movie and tv show, What we do in the Shadows - funny, irreverent and dripping with that spooky goodness.
The year is 1912 and the esteemed Lord de L'Isle has invited vampires from across the world to his estate for a night of revelry and veneration in celebration of his 1000th year birthday. Residents of the estate as well as invited vampires with their human familiars will be at this event. But when the Lord disappears right before this event, what will happen and who will step up as the new leader of the vampiric community and owner of the Lord’s estate?
In the Shadow of the Lord is perfect for a group of 10 to 12 players, and a mix of both male and female characters. This game does not focus on trying to solve a murder. Instead, it focuses on getting into character, roleplaying and trying to solve your own personal goals throughout the night. Perhaps your character wants to become the new leader, find a vampire to turn them or seek revenge on someone who's wronged them. Everyone’s goals are different and there is no winner or loser - you are all getting into character and creating a story together.
What are we working on next?
We have a few projects we’re working on and finalizing before the end of the year. Our Immediate priority is to make a digital version of In The Shadow of the Lord that would directly support playing online for those people who can’t gather in person.
Beyond that, we are working on another Murder Mystery, this time for 8-10 people, and it’s already written! We just need to design it and update the guides. This game in particular will surely be a hit with any Witcher fans or anyone who loves a story of dark political intrigue.
We’re also brewing up something small for Christmas that you’d all be able to enjoy and add to your tabletop roleplaying experience!
In the Shadow of the Lord - Update 1.1
If you downloaded the game as soon as it was made available on our Facebook page, you may want to re-download as we fixed a few errors and omissions - thank you to one of our players who caught it when preparing to run the game for Halloween! You will find a text file in the zipped folder with the version number and what changes were made - that way you can just print out the few pages that have changes on them instead of reprinting the whole thing.
